Youth-led Challenge

ARNEC is undertaking a regional youth-led challenge on Climate and ECD. The initiative "Climate Change through the Eyes of Children in Their Youngest Years" is a youth-created and youth-led, intergenerational campaign and brings together young advocates to ensure that children's experiences, voices and concerns about climate change and its impacts are understood and are represented at international climate discussions.

The initiative uses mixed methods research, Photovoice Study and Ethnographic Interviews that are designed to give voice to children and their caretakers, while also engaging young people as researchers and advocates.  This project will generate rich qualitative data that provides nuanced insights into the impact of climate change on early childhood development. By engaging children, youth, and older generations, the study aims to highlight intergenerational perspectives and build a robust foundation for advocating child-centred climate adaptation policies. Ultimately, the initiative  seeks to achieve multiple layers of impact at both the national and international levels, focusing on policy, community resilience, and global discourse.
